SOAR urges anyone considering becoming a Good Neighbor to consult an attorney before signing. You are forfeiting your right to sue the energy company for any reason, whether it’s damage to your health caused by low-frequency noise, physical symptoms such as insomnia, or a host of other issues such as shadow flicker, audible noise, and electronic interference.
You are signing away rights to your property, not only for yourself but for any future owners. Your children and grandchildren will inherit the terms of your Agreement along with your family’s land. If you choose to sell, the value of your property will be less with this ponderous contingency attached.
