How to Register as a Party with the DPS

Stay informed as the project approval process goes forward by registering as an interested party on the NYS Department of Public Service (DPS) website. Once registered, you get an email whenever important project milestones are met. Even more important, you will be able to post comments on the project in a way that can be seen by state regulators.

The 60-day comment period starts three months after the project application date, so probably sometime this fall. Those two months will be our chance to question anything about the wind farm plan before NYS rubber-stamps Terra-Gen’s application. Once the project is approved by the state, the plan is locked in place and there’s nothing we can do to change, or stop, it.

Anyone in the area who is impacted by the project can sign up as an “individual” interested party on the DPS website. Do it before the application goes in so that you can have a place at the table — before the project becomes a done deal.

Follow these instructions to become an interested party:

  1. Go to the DPS website;
  2. On the home page, click Login on the blue bar at the top;
  3. Click the link for Create an Account now;
  4. Fill in self registration – follow prompts;
  5. DPS will send you and email to activate your account- follow prompts;
  6. Select Security Questions and Create Password;
  7. Login again with new password;
